Algorithm Zoo

Capturing Markets with Code

about

If you like watching wild animals but don’t like the prospects of getting mauled, well you’ve come to the right place. Markets are wild, untamed beasts. This is a safe place to watch them.

Most of the zoo consists of datamining charts, created in R. Other languages with trading application will also be explored. R is still the dominant player, but Python and Julia are starting to make some gains.

There will be no spreadsheets, very few candlestick charts and a bias towards Bayesian inference. Traditional finance statistics that involve the abuse of correlation will be shunned for the most part, though solid economentrics is always welcome.

There are some plans in the works for trading screencasts, with a quant twist. Already there are a few free ones available on the Screencast tab.

Now a word or two of caution.

Do not feed the animals. This is work for highly trained professionals. Neither should you try to pet them. They are not domesticated for the most part. They will bite you or worse.
